BookAtEase- A Movie ticket booking app

BookAtEase is a responsive movie ticket booking app that helps individual and couples pick the seat of their choice. In  addition to it one can find the entire detail about the movie in a single go which helps them with information like audio system, accessibility inputs, snacks and lot more. Adding an option to include snacks and other coupons for ticket improves the overall user's cinema experience. Fake reviews and ratings are restricted by allowing authorized and verified users to key in those inputs.

Roles & Responsibilities

Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.

The same set of actions to be repeated for the mobile screens too as its a responsive application.

Target Audience

Movie Lovers

Family Audience

Youngsters

Key Challenges

  • Seat allocation and cancellation

  • Multi coupon usage at the same time

  • Fake movie ratings and reviews

  • Highlighting daily trending movie

User Research Summary

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m designing for and their needs. All the users fall under the primary group here as most of us make a mistake while trying to select the seat by getting mislead by where the seat isfrom the screen.

Through research we also found that while trying to select a movie , the ratings and reviews are not accurate as many users give fake reviews to defame the cast or the movie. This needs to be handled by allowing only authorized users to make any reviews and comments.

Usability Study

I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Findings from the first study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups. The second study used a high-fidelity prototype and revealed what aspects of the mockups needed refining.

Round 1

  • User wants quick access to snacks

  • Users doesnt want to wait in line to pick snacks

  • User wants an option to know if the show is a do not disturb one.

Round 2

  • Accessibility inputs like audio system type and other info was missing in movie details.

  • Reviews and ratings were not accurate

Take Aways

This was the very first responsive design I tried and it was a good experience to trying on a booking system which I use on a weekly basis.Minute details like user's expectations and preference parameters were visible through a tough round of user testing and all those were incorporated to provide the best user experience.

Conclusion & Next Step

Conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points users experienced have been effectively addressed. Include the snacks info in detail to give a complete experience to the users.
